Kathryn and Michael are certainly at the ” good Ol’ days phase” and i’m here for it. Their summer wedding at the Grandview was one for the books. They are both surrounded by good time lovin’, Beyonce’ sing off, dance until your shoes break kind of people. My favorite. I get an intimate look at my couples lives. I talk with them a lot before the wedding day, we have the engagement session and the wedding timeline dinner. But NOTHING rounds out a couple like the speeches at a wedding. Kathryn and Michaels siblings and best friends talked about crazy bar crawls and days spent shotgunning while fishing, these two clearly know how to have a good time and their wedding images prove it.
Kathryn and Michael are from Buffalo, and I know for a fact that planning a wedding from a few hours away is difficult. Your time engaged I promise is one of the most special seasons of life, but it is a lot of work. The morning of the wedding I met up with Kathryn at her parents house. Makeup artists and hair stylists were hard at work already and the atmosphere was pure excitement. BUT Kathryn told me that her stress level the day before was through the roof. Weddings are an awesome and important affair, don’t get me wrong, BUT the main goal of a wedding is marriage. Not centerpieces, its not aisle signs or the perfect first dance song. The way to measure the “success” of a wedding day is when you lay your head on your pillow that night, and look over at your forever. THATS to goal, thats the thing that people search for, its the thing no one regrets.
All of that musing aside, Kathryn and Michaels day WAS perfect. Their dream of a stellar summer wedding at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie became a reality. From their very first dance they literally set the floor on fire, and like her sister said in her speech ” laughter usually turns to tears, but these tears are the good kind”. Kathryn and Michael I am grateful I got to spend this day with you, summer weddings never looked so good.
Kathryns chose to do a bridesmaids reveal, which are quickly becoming my favorite. Here’s why.
Ceremony Time!
Now for some portraits. These were taken at the Poughkeepsie train station. BRIDES I cannot stress to you enough, if you do not do a first look prior to the ceremony make sure to have a good amount of time in between ceremony and cocktail hour. Kathryn and Michael had almost 2 hours in between, so not only were we able to get a ton of portraits BUT they were also able to enjoy the cocktail hour.
Wedding days are a team effort. So I want to thank the following vendors for making sure that Kathryn and Michael had a wedding day to remember. If you are getting married and would like to chat about having me at your wedding day, than click below!
