Vickie and Matt had been planning a fall wedding in upstate NY for MONTHS…than corona happened. A fleury of plan b’s began. Uncertainties swirled everywhere. Like so many other couples, waiting was the option. Jim Halpert put it best; even in the waiting Matt knew he was waiting for his wife, and Vickie knew she would was it. When Vickie called me and told me they were moving forward with their original date(and a smaller group) my heart smiled. Being at an actual wedding, my favorite place to be, gave a sense of normalcy to a not normal wedding season. Fall weddings in upstate NY are absolute magic, no debate. Vickie and Matts wedding day was no exception, fall was at its peak for the newlyweds.
Wedding day mornings are typically a little frenzied, the “did I ever answer that email” and “what time is so and so arriving” questions float around the air almost as thick as the hairspray. Despite the chaotic excitement Vickie sat, in all her gorgeous glory ready to step into her forever. Wedding planning during a pandemic, teaching during a pandemic, and with Matt in a high tension job during a pandemic, put a special sense of relief that their wedding day was here.
Vickie is absolutely contagious. She laughed her way into my heart from the first phone call. Always ready for a good time, and so laid back that my shoulders relaxed after being around her. Matt is a real life hero. Working night shift in a high stress job where he literally risks his life. His calm demeanor is not to be mistaken for someone not on their guard, but don’t worry he can party too. A true ying and yang couple. Their wedding day started with tears down the aisle, kisses in front of stone arches, and peaked In a sun drenched field for portraits. It was a photographers dream. When the bridal party comes in on a HUGE conga line, you know it’s going to be a night for the books. Thank you both, for hanging in there and allowing me to hang with you. Your people love you, thats clear, and so do I.
Her nannies ring was tied around a string of pearls, that draped her bouquet.
One of my favorite moments was the one below, Vickie and her mom have a handshake. I cried.
Side note, you are going to see that Cartwright tent rentals did a STELLAR job. Go hire these people!
