Your wedding day morning should be a time of laughing, makeup, and dresses being pressed. More often than not my couples overlook the *little* things that make these wedding day mornings run like a well oiled machine, if you are tying the knot this post is for you!
But how? The more thoroughly you plan your wedding day, minute by minute if you are one of my couples the more freedom you have to enjoy it. This is why the FIRST line of defense on your wedding day morning is a SOLID timeline. If you are one of my couples we will get together for dinner and craft this timeline together, luck you 🙂 Keep in mind sometimes your bridesmaids might have a little surprise in store for you, so even if you dont *think* you need extra time you just might. Like sweet Tanya here.
If you are the anal retentive type chances are you will have everything accounted for labeled and color categorized, you are my hero. If you are more of a free spirit OR if you are prone to overwhelm, hand it over. Find someone (someone in your bridal party or a family member) who can make sure its all taken care of. Here are some of the things that are we are often scrambling for:
Bra tape (more on undergarments later)
A steamer/ Iron (hotel rooms dont always have one)
Hairspray (after your hair & makeup stylist leaves your on your own)
Irons, Blow dryers, Curling Irons
Makeup setting spray/matte spray
Clothes pins and a sewing kit (one of those bridal emergency kits is ideal)
Bandaids
Stain remover pen
Toothpaste and general hygiene products
The wedding day details are the foundation of your wedding album, If you are one of my couples you know that I value this part of your day so here are a few ways to elevate your wedding day vibe.
Custom Stationary: A custom invite suite is personal, it can become an heirloom and it is a SURE FIRE way to pull your wedding into a different category. One of my favorite shops is Little Black Dress Paperie.
Fancy Ring Boxes: I have some of my own and I will absolutely bring them. If you want a keepsake than consider getting a monogramed one from The Mrs. Box.
Perfume: I always ask you for your perfume bottle, and as much as we love Brittney Spears perfume the bottles are probably not going to fit into your wedding aesthetic. Consider hopping on Amazon and putting your perfume into one of these gorgeous bottles, once again its keepsake city!
Jewlery: I LOVE heirloom jewelry and the something borrowed typically makes me cry BUT if you are looking for something else, consider my favorite bridal shop Olive and Piper!
When it comes to all of your undergarments (and your bridesmaids underthings) MAKE SURE that you have tried them on with your gown well in advance. If I had a quarter for every bridesmaid who is just realizing that her sticky bra does not work with her gown, I would have about 3.25. This does not seem like it would be a hold up, but trust me swapping undergarments can cost precious time. Speaking of undergarments that WORK here are a few links that you should look into!
For bras: The *new* Misses Kisses completely frontless bra!
For going to the potty: Dont laugh, its funny until you need it! The Bridal Buddy
Ok, maybe not cake just yet but let them eat. Our bodies are wired to need food to think clearly, nerves that prevent my brides from eating will cause headaches and nausea (for starters). SO make sure that breakfast will be provided, you can toss this task to a parent or MOH but in most cases wedding venues will offer the service 🙂
When you are considering where you want to get ready for your wedding, think outside the box. Most of my couples jump right to a hotel, but unless the hotel offers a large bridal suite (who’s aesthetic might not scream high end wedding) you might want to consider other options. My favorite option is an Air BNB, you can make a “thing” of it and have one last sleepover with your girls before you become a Mrs. We did this for my sisters wedding and its such a sweet memory, we watched bridesmaids, ate popcorn, and in the morning had a bridal breakfast! Air BNBs can also be WAY cheaper if split 6 or 7 ways, plus the added space to breathe never hurt anyone.
There are SO many of you all heading to the exact same place, so take as few cars as possible. This is especially crucial for the bride and groom, you’re leaving together and you don’t want a stranded car. If you are leaving for a honeymoon right after think ahead to which car luggage should go into, and make sure comfortable clothes are easily accessible! While we are on the subject of exiting make sure that you have a plan for your gifts and cards. You might want to get a head start and begin signing checks which will mean they will need to be with you, so plan ahead for that!
There is truly SO much more that will be helpful for your wedding day morning, and if you are one of MY couples dont worry I will divulge ALL of the info! This blog post was just to get you thinking about the details on the morning of your wedding! If you are currently on the hunt for a wedding photographer, well I think you and I should talk….
