A crisp clear day, a bride that looks like a movie star and lush greenery…this is what wedding days are made of. Elizabeth and Mark were finally able to tie the knot on September 11th at the Waterview in Monroe, CT. Being able to capture these frontline hero’s dream wedding gave me a much needed second wind. The 2021 wedding season was full of “what ifs” with new rules rolling out ever other week. Somehow Elizabeths vision was uninterrupted and her vision of bright and lush came to life as “spring” in September.
“Just so you know, I don’t care where we get married. I’ll marry you right here in this building, in the parking lot, in the eye of a hurricane, in the middle of a snowstorm on top of a monsoon. All I care about is that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.” – Andy Bernard |
Elizabeth and Mark are both beautiful, like stunning. When I met with them for their engagement session (click here) we instantly clicked. Liz is this bubbly, super cute lady with big bright green eyes. On the other hand Marc is a stoic with dapper good looks who will let out a smile when he looks at his girl. Liz and Marks family and friends are just as charming as they are. Liz’s bridal crew had the most hilarious reaction to seeing their bestie in her full wedding look, that moment let me know that we were going to be in for a PARTY later on. Mark’s guys were equally as rowdy and hilarious. The standard “guy” jokes abounded and truthfully I could’nt not laugh.
As if planning a wedding during a pandemic did not have enough loop hole there were a few others. I ONLY tell these stories because I want to assure you that even if something does go wrong, it’s not the end of the world. Firstly I was fighting a wicked cold on this wedding day. Their wedding was 2nd during a triple header wedding weekend, I have had car accidents the morning of weddings, been pregnant during weddings and sick during weddings. Trust me virtually nothing will stop me from rising to a challenge. As I was waiting for Liz to walk down the aisle, trying to hide a sneeze I realized time was passing. Like more time than should be.
Liz had casually mentioned that she has a habit of passing out, which is what I assumed had happened. I was wrong. What actually happened was terrible and amazingly convenient, let me explain. The officiant had accidentally gone to the wrong venue, which was over an hour away. As luck would have it a licensed officiant happened to be a guest. Without skipping a beat she jumped in and performed the ceremony, I did not even know what had happened until I spoke to Liz later on.
Brides and grooms, things will not always go as planned and thats ok. We can micro manage all we want and chances are something can still happen. Pandemics, bridesmaids dropping out last minute, leaving the bouquet at the house ( all of which I have experienced first hand). And guess what…you’ll still be married. There will still be a kiss at the altar, you will still be looking at forever with the one you love. This perspective is what makes weddings a dream for me, it’s the “come what may” that makes me cry, the whole til’ death do us part that plants us on steady ground. Liz and Mark are perfect. Made for each other and its made obvious in every glance, quiet laugh and stolen kiss. Congratulations you two, thanks for choosing me.
Liz and Marc, your day was *almost* as beautiful as the two of you. I mean your like Ken and Barbi for real. It was such an incredible honor to be there to calm nerves and make people laugh. I am so excited to watch your lives grow together, to see where life takes you and to be in the background cheering you on! Shoutout to all of the vendors that made this day possible!
